I managed to get the subwoofer to work with snd-hda-intel model=hp- zephyr in alsa-base.conf, using the latest code from the alsa-driver.new git repo (git://git.alsa-project.org/alsa-driver.new.git). The bass was rather silent in the beginning but I fixed that using alsaequal.
