Public bug reported:

While reading through my RSS feeds in Thunderbird, the listing will
suddenly go blank, or be populated with only a few new entries. This is
reproducible by clicking the "Get Mail -> RSS Feeds" button while
viewing an RSS folder, and I'm presuming the other occurrences are when
the timed refresh cycle occurs. The "new message" count on the folder
doesn't appear to be affected by this, so it still shows that I have
unread messages.

This appears to be a new bug, since I haven't seen this happen in prior
versions. I've attempted to run a repair on the folder, with no luck.

The workaround is to click to another folder and back again, or to
change the view (all vs unread).
