Anca: I'm unclear as to the precise nature of your problem. Is the
touchpad completely broken, or is it just vertical scrolling that's
broken?
In either case it appears that your touchpad is behaving outside of the
specification for Synaptics touchpads, as the patch shouldn't have any
impact on devices behaving within the specification. Once you've
clarified exactly how your touchpad is malfunctioning I'll add some
debug code to the driver to help us diagnose what's going wrong.
