I do not update/upgrade ubuntu and I used kernel by default in Ubuntu 12.04 I've seen is that when I install the proprietary driver from AMD (fglrx) is when I have problems when I shut down and restart at random the problem is reproduced in Release 12.4 or 12.6 legacy but very often.if I use the radeon driver I have no problems but then manages not powerplay and performance is not very good
