Public bug reported:
To reproduce:
1. Install current gutsy on an Intel 965 board with the following graphics
controller:
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 82G965 Integrated
Graphics Controller (rev 02)
2. From the login screen, press Ctrl-alt-f2 to switch to a text VC
3. Press Alt-f7 to switch back to the X server
4. Observe display problem: display is uniform brown backdrop and pulsates to
black and back at about 2Hz (!)
Alternatively:
2. Boot and log in.
3. Press Ctrl-alt-backspace to kill the X server
4. Wait for the X server to respawn
5. Press Ctrl-alt-f2 to switch to a text VC
6. Press Alt-f7 to switch back to the X server
7. Observe display synchronisation problem - it's like a TV with poor
horizontal locking, constantly whizzing to the side, and it's hard to tell but
I think the content is vertically much smaller than the screen and padded with
the browny background (so perhaps I'm seeing two half-size frames)
** Affects: xorg-server (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
