Its is ok from Ubuntu view if Avian is compatible with IcedTea 7 2.3.2 and later that uses the new string layout. It is important that the avian package continue to work after IcedTea 7 and OpenJDK security updates that we can not plan of forehand when they occour.
The avian package and the openjdk package gets rebuilt at differnt time. Best would be if there was no built time dependency and hardcoded offsets to prevent breakage when we upgrade to new openjdk versions and security updates. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1047389 Title: java -avian sigsegv on startup if used with a different OpenJDK 7 compared to the one it got built against.
