This would be a good fix. Still present in 12.04 for both the 2.x and 3.x packages.
The -n flag hasn't been needed since 2009 when subprocess began using ephemeral ports. IDLE is significantly more usable without the flag, as you don't run into those oddball issues with your script running in the same python process as idle itself and you can restart the interpreter at each run. The way it is now just causes unneeded confusion for beginners.
