Hello,
I am a recent Windows convert (i suspect there will soon be many with
the recent release of Win8) - and i find this to be a definite design
issue, not one persons opinion.
In Windows 7 i run a vertical taskbar similar to Unity, on a
modest/small 14" monitor at a comfortably visible 1366 x 768 res.. and
can fit the following items running vertically:
17 ungrouped tabs for open programs/documents
10 quicklaunch icons on two lines
1 large Windows start button
one line showing 4 main background apps + extension for remainder
one line for time
one line for day
one line for date
Ubuntu 12.04 struggles to fit even 1/3 of this functionality to be
displayed at one time (without unnecessary scrolling).
Such a simple solution, please allow the icon size to be reduced below
32x32!
