Hello! I have as well an Inspiron 13z (or 1370), and I have the same problem: When I hit the luminosity control buttons, nothing happen! I tried all the things above, but that doesn't work! (For information, I have Inspiron 13z with Windows7 and Ubuntu 12.04 in double boot).
Nobody have got others solutions to propose?
