I don't normally pay attention to certain kernels when doing "normal" day-to-day stuff, like backing up files. :)
On the other hand, I've noticed that prior when doing a fresh install of Quantal before, the device would mount RW and stay mounted RW. Then, after a few days of dist-upgrades, the device was mounted RO *all* the time. When redoing Quantal a few days ago, I noticed that the device mounted RW initially, and then ended up being mounted RO within the same copying session. So this is new to me. The setup is a desktop harddrive sitting inside a USB3 dock that connects to my USB3 ports. There seem to be some issues with Quantal and USB3 (see my Logitech Unifying Receiver bug) overall. So, I am not sure as to when this all started to happen, but I am pretty sure that I didn't have any of RW to RW thingy in 12.04. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1050078 Title: External Harddrive Mounted RW turns into RO To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1050078/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
