Since the command posted breaks with file names containing spaces, I instead 
used
for f in *.mp3; do mp3info -p "%m\n" "$f" | egrep '\d{3,}'; done
in several directories that contained at least one file that shows up with very 
wrong length in the xmms playlist. No errors or corruption reported, and all 
lengths were correct too (also tried with %S, leaving the egrep off).

Also, please note that the length is actually reported correctly in the
xmms file info dialog IN ALL CASES. Just not in the playlist! Screenshot
at http://www.spunge.org/~yamal/xmmsbug.jpg (also shows the seek error
as described in the bug report).
