Oh, i see now! Launchpad integration is added via a patch called 01_lpi.patch in (for example) gnome-games_3.4.1-0ubuntu2.1.debian.tar.gz in folder "/debian/patches" from lines 132-159.
and that's where the true bug lies because the code that it adds to gnome-sudoku should be more like what i've suggested above in comment 3.
