update-initramfs: not found

That sounds serious. How did you manage to remove the "initramfs-tools"
package? It's a dependency of a lot of packages.

Please give me the output of "dpkg -s initramfs-tools" and try to fix
the package status with "sudo apt-get -f install" (please copy&paste its
output if that fails).

Thanks!
