It seems I've misunderstood the problem.
By using LMMS I've been able to see (during a playback) that the time cursor 
stops in the case of this bug.
This means that very probably the audio backend plays a longer (2x, 3x or 4x 
I'm not 100% sure)  segment and somehow the rest of the process waits for it.
This would explain why the time cursor doesn't move during loops.
I'll try to find a tool to record this while it's happening.
