Hi Bryan. I tried what you said, but nothing happened. I only could solve this by undoing all the changes made to fix battery issue in my Toshiba.
What I did is to load the DSDT file from GRUB instead of generating a personalized kernel. NOw, I am running Linux 2.6.32-42 generic and updates work properly. I attach my grub file anyway, because the computer does not dettect any battery whitout changing the DSDT file.
