Joseph, Mostly a copypasta from LP Bug #1051020:
Yes, this problem is new to Quantal, and I've never seen it before (Maverick/Natty/Oneiric/Precise). But with that said I'd always run nvidia-current or nvidia-current-updates. Quantal is the first out-of- the-box install with xserver-xorg-video-nouveau I've been happy with and run on a daily basis. I just tested with: * Linux medic 3.6.0-030600rc6-generic #201209161835 SMP Sun Sep 16 22:36:28 UTC 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux And the reported problem still exists but its manifestation has changed slightly. I get the same blip of corrupted video as seen in the linked video above however I then get: * i8042 no controller found (console text paints over corrupted video). * Then the Plymouth Ubuntu logo and dots animation properly paints. Additionally, the problem has manifested beginning with my fresh install of Quantal using: * Ubuntu 12.10 "Quantal Quetzal" - Alpha amd64 (20120911) Removing needs-upstream-testing tag. ** Tags removed: needs-upstream-testing -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1051035 Title: MacBookAir3,1 has screen corruption on boot between Grub and Login (no Pylmouth Ubuntu logo) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1051035/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
