A bit more of research at bugzilla.gnome.org revealed http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=426816. On http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=425973 (marked as duplicate of 426816) there is a statement that this will be fixed on 2.12/2.20.
Additionally, http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=446894 builds on 426816, with the stated purpose of fixing "pagination and rendering issues when printing emails". Given the amount of changes, I do not see an option of backporting these two Evolution bugs to current (i.e. Feisty 2.10 and Gutsy 2.11) levels.
