Bug Report Minimum Requirement Information:
1) BIOS has been at newest version throughout.
2) AP is a Westell Versalink 7500 with WEP.
I do not know if MAC Filtering, QoS/WMM are in place.
I do not know the beacon interval. I do not believe there is an internal
firewall.
I do note that no settings on the AP were changed between the time the NIC
worked under Ubuntu 10.04 and did not under 12.04.1.
3) The NIC (TP-Link WN951N) is b/g/n. The AP (Versalink) is b/g. The connection
under 10.04 was wireless-g.
4) As indicated in earlier posts,
a) The TP-Link WN951N connected to the Versalink under Ubuntu 10.04.
b) The builtin Ralink wireless on the mobo connects fine to the
Versalink under Ubuntu 12.04.1.
5) Early tests of the connection had the AP and NIC on different floors. Later
tests put the NIC and AP in the same room.
In neither case could a connection between the TP-Link WN951N and Versalink be
established.
6) I do not have another AP to test.
7) As indicated above, this problem appears to have developed between the 10.04
and 12.04.1 releases of Ubuntu. I have the identical NIC in another desktop
running 12.04 alpha1 which connects to the Versalink with no difficulty.
8) compat-wireless/mainline kernel/ndiswrapper:
I now have a functioning Linux box using builtin Ralink wireless under
Xubuntu, so I'm hesitant to make substantial changes to the system
configuration (new packages, kernels). I hope the information I've provided
will be useful and look forward to hearing a response from the development team.
