Public bug reported:
Here is my /etc/hosts:
127.0.0.1 localhost
10.0.0.10 neon.atom neon
10.0.0.6 carbon.atom carbon
10.0.0.30 zinc.atom zinc
10.0.0.85 astatine.atom astatine
10.0.0.78 platinum.atom platinum
10.0.0.90 thorium.atom thorium
# The following lines are desirable for IPv6 capable hosts
::1 ip6-localhost ip6-loopback
fe00::0 ip6-localnet
ff00::0 ip6-mcastprefix
ff02::1 ip6-allnodes
ff02::2 ip6-allrouters
ff02::3 ip6-allhosts
Now when I add a machine (10.0.0.98 test.atom test) to this it reads:
127.0.0.1 localhost
10.0.0.10 neon.atom neon
10.0.0.6 carbon.atom carbon
10.0.0.30 zinc.atom zinc
10.0.0.85 astatine.atom astatine
10.0.0.78 platinum.atom platinum
10.0.0.90 thorium.atom thorium.atom
# The following lines are desirable for IPv6 capable hosts
::1 ip6-localhost ip6-loopback
fe00::0 ip6-localnet
ff00::0 ip6-mcastprefix
ff02::1 ip6-allnodes
ff02::2 ip6-allrouters
ff02::3 ip6-allhosts
10.0.0.98 test.atom test
Please notice that the line 10.0.0.90 thorium.atom thorium has been
changed to 10.0.0.90 thorium.atom thorium.atom
To correct this this I have to edit /etc/hosts using gedit.
