Freeze points exist for several reasons, one of which is to help ensure stability by giving developers time to properly test out the combined sytem and iron out any issues without introducing new complexity.
The unity shopping lens, whilst possibly providing benefit to the project on the whole, is not (in my opinion) of *importance* enough to to break standard procedure. As a lens it is trivial to install (see Ubuntu Software Centre) and easy to promote as an additional benefit to the user post install (see banner items in Ubuntu Software Centre). Issues of contention are not helped by actions that _appear_ shady, desperate and designed to prevent negative discussion by the community. If such features are going to be a necessity in the continuing development of Ubuntu then surely using that same community to develop and promote suitable ideas and actions would be a smart move. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1054785 Title: Wait to install by default until 13.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity-lens-shopping/+bug/1054785/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
