Tried again on Ubuntu 10.04 LIVE CD

On connecting the camera nothing shows up in dmesg and no new devices in /dev
dvgrab shows 'Error: no camera exists'

However the camera shows 'DV IN' so at some level it recognizes the
connection.


Can you confirm that this points to HW problems in the camera?


It's just kind of hard to believe that I've broken 2 cameras more or less the 
same way when trying to connect them to Linux, after they've been used for 
years on Windows environments. I might be able to test the camera with another 
computer at some point.
