Sorry, I didn't answer because I never got the notification for the question somehow. I typically use a minimal (e.g. server) install then add only the desktop stuff I need, so it's not really any of those variants nor is it a stock gnome install. Presumably when you install a whole desktop, you get python-dateutil from other dependencies so this bug is hidden.
