Another workaround is to reorder sources.list to have -security before -updates like this:
$ cat /etc/apt/sources.list deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise main universe deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise-security main universe deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise-updates main universe $ /usr/lib/nagios/plugins/check_apt -d APT CRITICAL: 5 packages available for dist-upgrade (4 critical updates). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1031680 Title: check_apt always report 0 critical updates To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nagios-plugins/+bug/1031680/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
