I tested the mainline kernel from [0] http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-
ppa/mainline/v3.6-rc7-quantal/ as instructed.
The resume from suspend failed just like it did with the Ubuntu kernel.
I should add here that like I hinted at in my original report, the
machine does indeed somewhat resume: I can hear the fan starting and
also the keyboard lights come on. It might just be the screen that stays
black.
This is the case with the nouveau driver only. I took the opportunity to
test the nvidia-current and nvidia-experimental drivers, and both the
Ubuntu and the mainline kernel resume correctly from suspend with those.
