There is some documentation here for installing the mainline kernel: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds
You basically just need to download the .deb file for your arch from: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.6-rc7-quantal/ Then install the linux-image and linux-image-extra .deb files with: sudo dpkg -i FILE_NAME.deb You can run sudo update-grub to automatically have grub updated to boot the new kernel by default. However, it is probably best to not update grub, and just select the new kernel from the grub menu. The grub menu is hidden by default. You can access it by holding the "Shift" key after you power on your system. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1055922 Title: Ubuntu freezes completely - only solution is a hard reset To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1055922/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
