In my attempt to recover I seem to have deleted the icon for
software-center in the left side menu of Unity. I went up to the
dashboard thingy and tried to get it there. But it didn't show. I am
kind of new to Ubuntu and Linux and do not know how to get to the program
files directory or how to make a shortcut for the programs I find there
even if I succeed in getting there. Please send me directions on how I
can get its icon back onto the left side menu. Then I will try to
reproduce the problem and send you the log file.

Thank you for the prompt reply. Down in my computer down in Florida where
I spent the winter I have Gnome NOT Unity and I like that better and find
it easier to work with than Unity. I use Software Center in Unity quite
often and am a little frustrated without it.
