This bug sadly still isn't fixed for my Dell Inspiron 1525 and I now encoutered a similar one on an Acer Aspire One D150-0Bw. Same problem: wifi can't be switched on if hardware switch is deactivated during booting. Strangely, even my usual workaround (rfkill unblock all) didn't work here. Perhaps you could look into this again. Thanks!
