Sometimes I experience parts of Unity/Compiz not working any more and I have to do a compiz --replace. I do not always immediately notice when that happens because it might be that I am working in a remote session for a longer while until first noticing that some hotkeys or mouse gestures are not working any more in my host. Is it possible that in such situation also the D&D of links to the desktop refuses to work? Might be an explanation because not more people are affected, because maybe they are not having the Unity/Compiz issue.
