Public bug reported:

When installing updates to a 12.10 beta release (i.e,. already on 12.10
beta, performing daily updates), any icons that I have added to the
launcher bar are lost. I.e., I have added apps with the "lock to
launcher" option, but they don't survive the updates. This is true of
both native apps and web apps.

Expected behaviour? Configurations like this should be perserved
through updates (and upgrades, although at this point I can only confirm
that they are lost in updates. I suspect they are lost in upgrades as
well but am not in a position to check). Maintaining user
configurations is a long-standing Ubuntu precept, and thus I consider
this new behaviour a regression in addition to a bug.
