To also referance Nicolaj's post, the reason that after removing the gnumeric.desktop file, that it's "permanantly" removed, is that the original package does not include a .desktop file to begin with.
Not sure if this by design or what since it's a gui application, why the package does not include a .desktop file. A copy of gnumeric.desktop resides in /usr/share/app-install/desktop , and remains there after removing gnumeric, and manually removing the gnumeric.desktop file in the workaround above, so if you want to reinstall, just copy it from there. I don't know if the ubuntu package is trying to copy that file from /usr/share/app-install/desktop to /usr/share/applications upon a reinstall, but it doesn't happen. I only wonder that because the package doesn't include a .desktop file to being with. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1029426 Title: gnumeric menu entry remains in xfce application menu To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnumeric/+bug/1029426/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
