Okay. Although I can't see any difference between booting with vt.handoff=7 and the 3.6 mainline kernel, which I did before, and booting now with a current 3.5 Ubuntu kernel and vt.handoff turned off - no screen flickering or anything with the latter. Thus I don't quite see the point of this vt.handoff.
