I think you meant Unity3D, not 2D.
The cause of this bug is:
UnitySupportTest: Error: command ['/usr/lib/nux/unity_support_test', '-p',
'-f'] failed with exit code 127: /usr/lib/nux/unity_support_test: error while
loading shared libraries: libGL.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such
file or directory
This means your graphics driver is not installed properly and is
unusable. It's a common problem with ATI Catalyst (fglrx) unfortunately.
I think the solution is usually:
1. Completely uninstall the driver:
a. Ctrl+Alt+F1 and log in
b. Run: sudo apt-get purge fglrx fglrx-updates
2. Reboot
3. Reinstall the driver (using jockey-gtk)
** Summary changed:
- Unity 2D will not load - blank desktop
+ Unity will not load - blank desktop
