New packages is ok. The previous fixe was to compile a grub-mount from uptodate 
upstream.
Since the new version is in ubuntu the bug can be considered fixed.
However, could you backport the new version to the previous LTS version.
I think upgrading the grub packages in previous supported boot image would 
benefit to many.
