Public bug reported:
This HP laptop works fine with ubuntu 12.04 but there are problems with quantal
beta 2.
with standard booting, you get unity taskbar at the left and top bar but
wallpaper is white page and you can not see a mouse.
It is not possible to use it. I have figured out two ways to kind of fix it:
1) when in corrupted screen, swith to text console, kill lightdm and startx as
root. then run unity.
2) remove "splash" from bootable options, when booting from USB
unfortunatelly I have this laptop only for today, so won't be able to
install 12.10 beta 2 permnently or do any other tests.
I hope information and logs attached would give some clue for
developers.
