Once replication starts, you can monitor it by running
ldapsearch -z1 -LLLQY EXTERNAL -H ldapi:/// -s base contextCSN
On my system this gives an empty result.
To get the correct result I had to add an additional -b dc=example,dc=com
ldapsearch -z1 -LLLQY EXTERNAL -H ldapi:/// -s base -b dc=example,dc=com
contextCSN
It took me some time to figure out.
