Public bug reported:
"An unresolvable problem occurred while initialising the package
information.
Please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include
the following error message:
'E:Read error - read (5 Input/output error), E:The package lists or
status file could not be parsed or opened"
this error stops the installation of updates.
I have tried "apt-get install apt" from the terminal and get the same error.
I am fairly new to the system but reasonably proficient at following
instructions.
Your suggestions would be appreciated.
