@raymond : thanks for looking at this. My alsa-info.txt file from alsa-info.sh is attached.
The front headphone jack does indeed mute the rear speaker jacks when headphones are plugged in. But the volume on the headphones when I do that is extremely low. I don't know if my PC supports multistreaming in Windows.
