Public bug reported:

I was accessing my Ubuntu desktp remotly using VNC (vino server). I
accidently clicked 'switch user session'. VNC screen went blank and I
was left without any option other then remotly restarting xserver, which
I did not want to do.

This is a simple problem, but complex issue to solve ;) As a stop-gap
solution, switching user session should at least warn about a possible
problem when there is someone watching through VNC attached.
