The fact this is expired is not a strong reason to mark this a duplicate of bug 713088. The reason one would mark a bug a duplicate of another, is one has strong, technical grounds to justify this. With this in mind, the fact that subscribers to bug 713088 are noting using Nvidia, and editing kernel parameters works around their problem, provides evidence this is a kernel issue (ex. nouveau).
