This week the internal speakers of my ThinkPad x201 stopped working.
Headphones still work well.

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Audio/PositionReporting proposes to add
options snd-hda-intel position_fix=2
to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf

This fixed the issue. As suggested I still file this bug report.

Note: I run ubuntu-bug audio after the issue was resolved.
