Public bug reported: This week the internal speakers of my ThinkPad x201 stopped working. Headphones still work well.
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Audio/PositionReporting proposes to add options snd-hda-intel position_fix=2 to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf This fixed the issue. As suggested I still file this bug report. Note: I run ubuntu-bug audio after the issue was resolved. lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS Release: 12.04 ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 Package: alsa-base 1.0.25+dfsg-0ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-32.51-generic 3.2.30 Uname: Linux 3.2.0-32-generic x86_64 AlsaVersion: Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.24.
