I was having the problem on my eMachines E525, but the solution by cgonzalez solved this.
To quickly recap what I did: I added "acpi_backlight=vendor" and "i915.invert_brightness=1" boot parameters. You add them by changing GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT value from "quiet splash" to "quiet splash acpi_backlight=vendor i915.invert_brightness=1" inside /etc/default/grub file. You then simply need to run `update-grub2` to update the GRUB bootloader, so that your new configuration is used next time you boot. Hope this helps. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/765438 Title: On startup, the backlight is off on laptop To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/765438/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
