I just upgraded to 12.10 and have same problem.
unity 6.8.0-0ubuntu2
compiz 1:0.9.8.4-0ubuntu2
Intel graphics
I did
rm ~/.compiz-1/session/*
rm ~/.config/compiz-1/compizconfig/config
unity --reset
but it does not help
