Affects Ubuntu 12.10 (Quantal Quetzal), but broken dependencies are fixed with 
"sudo apt-get -f install":
sudo apt-get install googleearth-package
make-googleearth-package --force
sudo dpkg -i googleearth*.deb
sudo apt-get -f install
