Xubuntu 12.10 install goes fine till the last leg, then: 'The installer encountered an unrecoverable error. a desktop session will now be run so that you may investigate the problem and try installing again.'
Used xubuntu-12.10-desktop-i386. Did multiple attempts. Sometimes you just hang at that point with a busy-sign cursor. Did the suggest fix for AMD chips: 'sudo apt-get purge ubiquity- slideshow-xubuntu' in the LiveCD, then carry on with installing again. This works. CPU is Athlon 1300, bios-clocked to 1733. o@bluefish:~$ cat /proc/cpuinfo processor : 0 vendor_id : AuthenticAMD cpu family : 6 model : 10 model name : AMD Duron(tm) Processor stepping : 0 cpu MHz : 1745.942 cache size : 512 KB fdiv_bug : no hlt_bug : no f00f_bug : no coma_bug : no fpu : yes fpu_exception : yes cpuid level : 1 wp : yes flags : fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 mtrr pge mca cmov pat pse36 mmx fxsr sse syscall mmxext 3dnowext 3dnow up bogomips : 3491.88 clflush size : 32 cache_alignment : 32 address sizes : 34 bits physical, 32 bits virtual power management: ts The previous install of lubuntu-12.04-desktop-i386 did not have this problem. -- Thanks for working on this, guys. Please do consider adding this one to the Release Notes for 12.10. I had a multi-hour black-comedy before I found out this was the problem. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/968216 Title: IOError: [Errno 32] Broken pipe To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/968216/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
