Public bug reported: There seems to be several bug reports about networking not working after a suspend-wakeup cycle. As far as I can tell, there seems to be several different cases, and they are reported all over the place. I think it would be advantageous if somebody with deeper knowledge about this could sort this out, and replace the current reports with clear reports describing the distinct problems.
Possible real problems: * interfaces listed in /etc/networking/interfaces are *not* handled by NetworkManager, and for some reason, they don't work properly with ifup/ifdown or /etc/init.d/networking restart. (This happened to me) Also: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/feisty/+source/network-manager/+bug/40125/comments/34 * incorrectly assigned interface names - possibly a problem with /etc/iftab? I've been bitten by this as well, would it be possible to warn if the interfaces in /etc/iftab are not present on the system *and* the interfaces present are not listed? (This happens when you move an installation (i.e. the disk) to a different system) Perhaps this: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/45696/comments/14 * ACPI related problems? Several comments suggest tweaking the acpi scripts, but maybe they are just treating the symptoms of deeper problems? * dhcp-related problems - https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source /network-manager/+bug/45696/comments/28 * dbus-related problems - https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/feisty/+source/network- manager/+bug/40125/comments/68 * ipw2200-specific problems - https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/feisty/+source/network- manager/+bug/40125/comments/56 Relevant reports: Bug #45696, Bug #93576, Bug #46883, Bug #40125 (possibly others) ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- broken networking after suspend - meta-bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/123929 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
