Binary package hint: gnome-system-monitor
Gnome System Monitor displays memory and partition sizes using units
like "MB" and "GB", but with the non-standard Microsoft definition (MB =
1,048,576 bytes instead of 1,000,000 bytes).
Compare with other apps like Gnome Partition Editor, Nautilus CD Burner,
and Network Tools, which use the standard base-2 units (MiB=1,048,576
bytes) and things like Synaptic, which use the standard decimal units
(MB=1,000,000 bytes).

In a lot of programs the discrepancy doesn't really matter, but in a
system-level tool like this, precision and consistency with other
programs is important.
