** Description changed:

  New install of 12.04 LTS on compaq Presario CQ58. PC came with windows 7, 
wlan range OK. Installing LTS12.04, wlan range is now 1-2 m. chip is RAlink 
RT5390 ( lspci says 539a ), driver is rt2800pci. Driver seems to work OK, but 
this new chipset has antenna selection, and RT2800pci driver does not support 
that, from web post I read. iwconfig rssi readings are in low -80 when located 
1-2 m away from AP.
