Hi! Don't want to disappointing anyone but the solution provided by @pads doesn't work for everyone.
1) the solution for legacy cards (2xxx-4xxx) does indeed work 2) but the second solution only works for users with only a AMD/ATI GPU. Anyone who has a ATI/Intel hybrid card can only use the open source drivers. The ATI/Intel Hybrids still seem to suffer from a regression compared to Ubuntu 12.04 and the previous AMD Catalyst drivers. I have just tried the AMD Catalyst 12.11 beta driver fresh out the press at AMD and it still doesen't work for me. I have a AMD Radeon HD 6490M with an integrated Intel 3000 HD card running. Laptop is Samsung Chronos 7 700z3a-S03-DE. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1068661 Title: 1002:6740 Unity does not load after installing fglrx-installer Radeon HD 6700M Series To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/fglrx/+bug/1068661/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
