I just upgraded to Ubuntu 12.10, and now I'm seeing the same message on
boot:

  /scripts/local-top/cryptroot: line 1: can't open
/dev/mapper/p490-root: no such file

The contents of "/var/log/boot.log" and "/etc/crypttab" are below.

The system seems to boot normally after the message, though.
