I'm not sure if I'm having exactly the same issue but my kworker also makes CPU
really high. It started from upgrade to Kubuntu 12.10:
perf record is giving me:
Samples: 39K of event 'cycles', Event count (approx.): 27911930181, Thread:
kworker/0:2(558)
+ 46,65% kworker/0:2 [kernel.kallsyms] [k] native_read_tsc
◆
+ 39,08% kworker/0:2 [kernel.kallsyms] [k] delay_tsc

+ 6,48% kworker/0:2 [kernel.kallsyms] [k] acpi_os_read_port
▒
+ 4,38% kworker/0:2 [kernel.kallsyms] [k] acpi_ec_gpe_handler
▒
+ 1,84% kworker/0:2 [kernel.kallsyms] [k] acpi_os_write_port
▒
+ 0,27% kworker/0:2 [kernel.kallsyms] [k] acpi_ec_transaction_unlocked
uname -a:
Linux qwert 3.5.0-18-generic #29-Ubuntu SMP Fri Oct 19 10:26:51 UTC 2012 x86_64

Any ideas where to look further?
